I'm attempt to install an FM modulator / line in to supplement the lack of AUX 3.5mm line in on my new Kizashi stereo. I have all of the required ingredients and am ready to go, but do not have a clue how to get to the back of the stereo.

On my SX4, I could literally reach behind from up and under the dash, but on my Kizashi, the dash is connected underneath all the way to the front of the car.

There were previous posts on this forum that linked to a service manual (but the link was to megaupload.com and that site is now blocked).

Can anyone point me in directions to a service manual or provide instructions (possibly with photographs) on how to access the rear of the stereo?

Open the compartment lid in front of your gearshift. Now reach under the A/C control and just pull. It pops right out. After that you do the same with the stereo face. Really easy to put back too.

I can definitely get my hands behind the HVAC controls, pulling it I can feel the plastic begin to flex (but it feels as if I'm going to snap the HVAV controls in half).

No pins to adjust or clips to press in, just pull?

Can anyone video it and throw on youtube to see?

I just did the panel removal and took out the stereo (Kenwood Nav unit) to hook up the HD radio accessory.
The panel will pop out - just be firm and keep some fingers planted at the sides so it doesn't suddenly fly out. That thread about the AC panel removal gives a pretty accurate description of the experience.

I purchased one of these http://www.metraonline.com/part/40-HD30 to connect an FM modulator to the antenna on the back of the Kizashi stereo. I'm curious as to what to do with the blue wire.

I looked in the service manual, and it appears the antenna amplifier is one of the two pins in the plastic casing that goes to the stereo (possibly the stereo supplies the power through one of the black wires on the stock antenna connector). Since I am going to plug in this blue one, with a modulator in the middle, and then the factory antenna into a 2nd one with opposite male/female end to connect to factory antenna, I'm assuming if I don't connect these two blue wires to something, that power won't go to the antenna.

Can I simply connect the two blue wires to each other in order to provide the right antenna amplifier power?

Spoke with Metra tech support, who advised me to connect the two blue wires together - and that it is power for the antenna. (without connecting, will be relatively poor reception)

I'm attempting to add this today. I wish there was a step by step guide to removing the unit and the best location to install FM modulator.
