Fixed minor damage to my mirror

A few days ago, my car right hand mirror was just clipped by a bastard truck driver who was speeding. He was just inches away from me. I thank my lucky stars he didn't side swipe the whole side of the car. I couldn't gave chase as I was turning left and he sped off straight ahead. My in car camera failed to show his registration plate. As it was only a minor damage, claiming insurance was useless as my excess is $500. So, I've come up with this idea to cover the damage with a small piece of gloss black vinyl wrap. :drive:

Have you thought about doing the mirrors entirely in black? You've already got a lot of the black "highlights" happening (bumper, roof, stone protector etc) so it might tie in well.

PS: what sort of camera have you got?

Yes, my original intention was to wrap the entire mirror, but gave up when I couldn't achieve a smooth
finish due to the curve surface. So I came up with just the strips instead. So much easier!!
The camera I have is Navig[8]R.

I've never tried applying vinyl but can imagine that wouldn't work too well.

Is the Navig[8]R you've got 1080P? I bet you were mad when you couldn't pick up the rego. :(

Yes, either 1080P or 720P. I've got it set on the latter, simply because it takes up less space on the micro SD card.
You bet I was fuming when it couldn't get the rego!

Nice fix! Goes well with the hood guard.

What kind of vinyl did you use? I think you'd have to use the special stuff for curved surfaces

Didn't realise there was a special stuff for curved surfaces!! I used the same vinyl as I did for the roof. My son bought a whole roll (20 metres, I think) for his Subaru and I just cut a piece enough to cover the roof and the mirrors.
