CVT fluid drain and fill
Hey guys I'm getting ready to do a CVT drain+fill i'm a little past the first one (45,000 miles) and I was just curious is this the correct fluid? I picked it up from an old suzuki dealer near Erie PA and they said this is what they've always carried. Reason I ask is because the manual states Suzuki CVT green fluid 1 or something like that maybe not in that order. Is the green referring to the color of the fluid because I noticed it has a tiny tint of green/yellow.
45K? The owner's manual doesn't have a replacement interval. Only inspection. Where did you find that it should be replaced at 45K? I've got 70K on my 2011 and never have had to do a thing with my CVT. The 2011 service manual only has you drain, replace the drain bolt gasket and refill. Not removing much dirty fluid, I'd say.

Not gonna lie I'm pretty sure I got it mixed up with the transfer case gear oil replacement since they're so close...however I do know i read somewhere that people said you should drain, and fill the CVT fluid at 45k....I know some people have drained it completely and refilled all the fluid through out the entire system...what you listed the pull drain plug, drain, put plug back in and fill is what i'm referring to and usually takes about 4 qts.
Instead of messing with disconnecting the hose and running the engine, could you not simply remove the drain plug several times until you've used up all but a quart of the fluid you purchase? Putting back in the same amount you drain out, of course.

You could, but it would intermingle the used/new fluid in the pan versus pushing purely old fluid out at the hose. Either one is better than not changing the old stuff.
I'm trying to see how the fluid coming out the hose is only old fluid. I can see that the transmission cooler would have dirty fluid in it, but isn't the fluid in the torque converter going to get mixed in with the new fluid as well?

It's weird they specifically say green. The day I got my car we checked all the fluids and I was like wtf why is the trans fluid pink.
