Kizashi Club

Hello everyone I just became a Kizashi owner yesterday. It's a 6MT S so comes with no radio. I have never DIYed a car radio before and I did some search on the forum, so far I think these things are needed:

dash kit

a headunit, but which ones are compatible with the car and the kit?

finally... a stupid question... how can I tear off the stock panel and find the harness?

Thanks! If I just wanted a single din unit, do I still have to buy the scosche outfit?

I would consider double din, maybe a Kenwood 418...Bestbuy has em for $399, keeps options open for Bluetooth, Backup camera, Nav, while playing DVD videos and I think it runs MotionX GPS, Pandora, and streams Netflix from an iPhone...

PS: I think WOWtrim will be offering a dash trim kit with a double din aftermarket insert for the Kizashi if you are into that sort of thing

KizashiS, you'll need the dash kit either way. It should come with everything neccessary to install a double or single din head unit. I'd have to agree with Geaux, a dd head unit would look much better and support future add-ons. I was considering a single din flip out, just because I had it already, but decided a single din would look too out of place and went for a double.

A wood dash kit for aftermarket radios would be so nice! I hope they do offer it, I'd love to put one in.

Just got my Scosche "ISO Double DIN" facia kit for the Kizashi and guess what - it isn't big enough to fit a double din unit. As far as I can find out double din is 178mm x 100mm (my unit certainly is) and the hole in the Scosche kit is only 172mm x 100mm!
I have had to source another facia http://www.aerpro.com/list.php?pcode=FP ... +&cat_sno= and that is 178mm x 100mm (thank goodness), it also comes with an additional trim piece to reduce the size of the hole by about 2mm all round if required.
So if anyone else is going to fit a double din head unit, double (couldn't resist that) check the size!!

Another issue with a Scosche product you should be aware of, if you plan to install a head unit that has connections for the steering wheel controls, is that the Scoshe S106B adapter plug/cable is not fully populated ie. there are no pins in the plug for the steering wheel control cable. It looks like they have only included standard ISO connections, that is speakers and power.
A bit disapointing.
