Reviving an old thread.

This was kinda of true here in India. In February 2011, Kizashi was launched at INR 18 Lakhs (USD 25k). By June 2012, the car was declared as a flop and Suzuki dropped the price to INR 13 Lakhs (USD 18k). So almost a 7k drop in price. For that 7k, one could've easily bought a top spec Alto.

Yeah, I heard the Kizashi was a prohibitively expensive Suzuki for many in India largely due to it being a Made in Japan Suzuki instead of an India-made Maruti Suzuki like most Suzukis on the road in India. While there is no doubt of the difference in refinement, it was apparently not what many people expected from the Suzuki brand there.
The Kizashi was largely a victim of bad timing as the wrong car at the wrong time when it made its global debut. The failure of the Kizashi had a profound impact on Suzuki, arguably leading to Suzuki leaving the US and Canadian markets and refocus on small cars in Asia which was their forte.
