Recall

I'm at the dealership getting my spiders evicted and they tell me there's another recall still open on my car. Strange that they were harassing me about the gas tank vent hose and not saying a word about this other one (nor have I read about it here).

Anyway, it's something to do with the accessory drive belt tensioner. Anyone heard about this? I've got a 2010 so maybe it was just the very first Kizashis.

I think it was on the first Kizashis. I had the vent tube and the shift lock done at the same time. As far as I know, those are the latest and a couple years old. If you have a manual, you won't have the shift lock recall. If you do have the CVT, the shift lock recall is about being able to force the shifter to move breaking the shift lock mechanism. You may want to weigh the possible interior parts damage to the risk of you actually man-handling the shifter to the point of breaking it.

I heard about the belt tensioner recall but I think it only applies to earlier models. The Kizashi also had a recall for the center console or glove box due to it opening in a crash. Both of these only seem to apply to early models as far as I know.

Yeah, I went to Fitzgerald Dodge in Wheaton, I was sat in their waiting room when I posted that. Turns out they had the part in stock, so I got both recalls handled. That's great 'cause I hate letting someone else work on my car.

Had the belt tensioner replaced on my 2010 years ago. I made my own screen to block the spiders. Just like Woodie I hate having someone else work on my car.
