2015 Suzuki Vitara leaked

For our two 2002 XL-7s, which have a body style that was a stretched Grand Vitara (so there were three body styles available, Vitara, GV, and XL-7), we have the h27a engine. This is a 6-cylinder 2.7 liter which according to Wikipedia has roots in a joint Suzuki-Mazda design. It might have been influenced by GM, but I think rather that the GM design came in later (in 2006 or 7) with a larger V-6.

The reason why we Americans keep talking about a GM-sourced V6 is because the smaller displacement Suzuki V6s were not offered in the States to my knowledge. It was either a GM-designed V6 or a Suzuki-designed 4 cylinder. I don't think any of these Suzuki-designed V6 engines Australians got made it to the US market.

The USA and Canada definitely got the H25A and H27A in their Grand Vitaras/ early XL-7's. I'm a member on Suzuki forums (I own an XL-7) and know quite a few members who reside in the USA or Canada with those engines! Check the details of the guy by the name "Max" in the second post on this thread http://www.suzuki-forums.com/1g-1999-20 ... rings.html He's one of a large number of people with the Suzuki V6.

Each country will have different time lines and engine options, that's the way global marketing works. I was outlining what we got in Australia.

The GM V6 was in the JB series GV and was 3.2l displacement. I wish my XL-7 had that engine over it's current H27A. The larger second gen North American only 2007+ XL7 (note no dash between the "XL" and "7") also had the GM V6 - I think it was 3.6l ?

Anyway, I hope Suzuki stick with some sort of off road capability and proper wagon shape body for the new Grand Vitara. And please.... no CVT!!! A worked over J24B with proper 6 spd auto (or 6 speed manual) would be nice enough.

My bad, I keep forgetting about the XL-7 and how early that car debuted. I always tend to think it came later than it actually did. Sounds like the Grand Vitara did debut in the US in 1999 with a 2.5 liter V6 offered. That must have been a Suzuki engine and not a GM.
