Maybe we as fans should call Suzuki and see if they'll allow us to sell the Swift!! We'd probably meet and defeat any quota set for us. :drive:

I wonder if we could get the new Swifts safety approved from the NHSA and NTSB for the US, and get direct sales from Suzuki w/out all the other dealerships throwing a fit, like they did for Tesla? Because lets be honest, the sales volume for Suzuki cars that we're talking about now isn't anywhere near the level to be of any threat to the dealers.

Unfortunately, that's precisely why Suzuki wouldn't bother selling its cars in the US through any means. It would also be way too costly for them to produce cars that meet US standards.
I hate to say it but I have strong doubts of Suzuki coming back to the US to sell automobiles in the foreseeable future. Much like Daihatsu, I think they'll stay out of the large-car-loving North American market and focus on Asia with small cars. I think the only way we could drive Suzukis is if they partnered/merged with a larger company and produced rebadged vehicles sort of like how the Mazda2 is sold in the US by Toyota as the Yaris iA.

Does anyone have a ball park of how much it costs to get a car approved for sale in America?
