Often, I'm upset with my self for not indulging in impulse purchases more often. This is one of those times...

Yeah, I kinda feel you, but I also know how distribution works and there's a set in a warehouse sitting there collecting dust that the distributor would be happy to get rid of.

Sounds like RRM is all out of them, but did anyone check with Progress; the actual company that manufactured them?

If any of you are feeling creative, you might be able to make your own chassis braces with square tubing or similar. I reinforced my GTI's subframe with steel square tubing and it made a huge difference on that soft chassis. All you need is a decent saw and drill bits :)

I would have bought the RRM brace if it wasn't so expensive. However, I imagine someone who welds can easily make something like that.

For your GTI, how did you mount it? I'm reluctant to drill into the frame given it's coated and/or galvanized for rust protection. I think drilling into the metal may compromise that.

I don't know how to weld so I had to mount the braces using bolts. Some holes were prethreaded but I had to drill others. I only worked on the subframe though as I didn't want to muck around with the car's frame.

Here's an aftermarket example of something that could be easily done yourself:
