Yeah...I'm keeping it

General G-Max AS-03 235/45ZR18XL $173 each, $737.52 out the door from my local tire shop.
Just got home w/ them, so no real impressions other than softer ride and crisper cornering than the worn out OE Dunlops w/ 25,147 miles on them.
Seems a tad noisier than I remember the Dunlops were when the car was new. Heading to the dealer this afternoon for an alignment and yearly inspection.

Reason: corrected tire model number

Ronzuki,

Almost went for those. Ended up with Nitto Motivo. Thought yours may be better for the winter. That was a good price, did they still have the rebate that was available earlier?

Yes, I'm keeping mine too....

No rebate that I'm aware of. That was the price simply by calling and asking for he specific tire w/ an out the door price.

To those going for alignments, at a zuk dealer or not, the TSB specs were not loaded into their rack's computer. I gave them a copy of the TSB and they set the alignment to those which were different than the alignment that was done last year after I noticed the prematurely worn Dunlops. I have print-outs of the before and after of both.
I am now going to keep a much closer eye on my tire wear and bump my rotations up to 5,000 miles instead of 7,000.

You might find them noisier because they're a directional tyre (the OEM Dunlops- aren't I don't think?)

I really like the OEM Dunlops. When it's time for replacemnt tires I think I'll go with the OEM Dunlops again. I have a place where I can get them for $169 each.

You must be deaf or insane. There are a number of review showing just about anything is an improvement over the Dunlops. Personally, I have the Conti DWS, and the wet handling is 100x better, the road noise is significantly improved, and the ride is a bit better.

No...I agree w/ Jono, at least compared to the Generals I now have, the Dunlops were quieter WHEN NEW as compared to the Generals. Yeah it's probably that directional tread thing. Still far quieter than the GY MTRs on the Jeep Rubicon I had before the Kiz! I priced the Conti's and the OE Dunlops as well, and the Generals came in the cheapest at tire shops around here, so that's what I went with.

I've got some Maxxis MAZ-1 tyres that we had fitted to our "old" Mazda 6 - they did sound like MTR tyres!? Don't ever buy them... Ironically, the tread pattern is vaguely similar to the Generals:

(I had to change the tyres when we wanted to sell it as people complained about the tyre noise.)

....yep no doubt. However, the reviews I read were all good across the board under all seasonal conditions, so that's how I went. I'm all for saving a few bucks if the trade-offs aren't that significant. The little bit of added noise isn't a show stopper for me as it may be for others (again, I jumped out of a noisey Rubicon into the Kiz). Just thought I'd state what I've noticed. Soon as we get some kind of 'weather' I'll let you all know how I feel about them in that regard against the OE Dunlops.
