Re: Orange peel... Interesting isn't it? Do you guys find the peel inconsistent through the car? I don't mind it. I reckon the rear is the worst.
The car hasn't had a full detail for a year now. Used to do the hardwork myself (clay-machine polish-wax). I now send the car to a friend who's an awesome detailer here in Melbourne.
He has developed his own extensive line of products, produced locally in Australia.
He does a lot of exotics but treats your regular Suzuki with equal care and respect
I wash and wax almost every week. I use a spray wax he developed that offers amazing protection and results. Just spray and buff dry. Doesn't haze. Safe on plastics and glass; in fact give them a nice coat and water beads like crazy on the windscreen.
Takes 10mins to wax the whole car.
Because it's a black car, I take a lot of care washing it.
I use 11 microfiber mitts - each side dedicated to a section of the car. Separate ones for wheels and lower body. So, each section is washed with a fresh clean mitt to avoid cross contamination. A bucket with clean car shampoo (+ the mitts), and another to chuck in the used mitts. I don't rinse and reuse the mitts, so any dirt that's been picked up won't work its way back to the car. It's basically a wipe & throw method.
Car is dried with a waffle weave microfiber - it soaks up a lot of water, often a single pass is enough to dry each section (less rubbing, less swirls).
It's fast and effective. Takes about 30-35mins to wash and wax.
I believe regular maintenance is the key, not just the one off massive detail. 12 months on, the car is still swirl free, surface is silky smooth with very little contamination, good metallic clarity and awesome shine.
