Recently found this video and it looks to show the process of programming two new Kizashi fobs to a car that didn't have any fobs for it. It's interesting because it answers a lot of questions people have asked about programming new fobs like whether you need at least one working fob present or whether it's only something a dealer can do. This shows that having the right equipment and knowledge allows non-dealers to program new fobs to the Kizashi.

Good to see this done. Somehow this relieves some of the worry of loosing a fob. Now I see how simple it is for a locksmith to program a new fob.

Yeah, as long as it's one specializing in automotive keys and locks and has the necessary devices.

That guy is in Chicago not too far from me, but the Motor City is even closer. I would expect to find a decent locksmith there. In fact a month ago at a flea market a local locksmith bragged to me that he could program any car with a fob. I took his card. I have been thinking of calling him to see if he can program a key with three buttons for my Toyota Sienna. It came with a key and separate fob. I specifically bought the Sienna model without the fob/start button because I thought the key would be less bulky in my pocket than the smart fob. Carrying the key alone is less bulk, but the Sienna only has one keyhole at the drivers door. To open the hatch or side doors I have to go to the drivers door first. Something I didn't for see. It turns out that I now carry both the key and fob and now wish I had gotten the smartfob like the Kizashi's. If this locksmith can program a combo key/fob for my Sienna I'll have him program a third fob for my Kizashi.
