Yeah, I heard about it months ago when VW announced they will be ending production, mainly due to Brazil's adoption of stricter safety standards.

Ours is running good now, but needs some fine-tuning here and there. It's a miserable car to drive in the winter as the heater, even when new, does not work well. The fix, I hear, is to get a powerful aftermarket blower motor.

One of my friends has a carbureted VW bus from the late 60's and just drove it from Washington State to Kentucky. The car is from Alaska, where he used to live, but he shipped it from Alaska to Washington. After a few more weeks in Kentucky, he is taking it down to Florida where he is moving for helicopter flight school.

The VW bus lives on.
