I saw a Nissan Leaf "topping off" from a socket in a light pole at a local technical college. That would lower your fuel bill! Risky leaving the charging cord unattended in the middle of a big parking lot though! Back in my day, they used to call that stealing!

I was really close to buying a Focus electric, but the loss of usable space in the back to accommodate the battery was a deal breaker for us. We did an extended test drive, and really loved the car. Best of luck!
