I think the manual says just to use the same wax you use on the car. Nothing special.

Just a thought, when parking, tilt your right side mirror down and watch the curb/tire relationship. Also, about repairing damaged rims. You can have "custom paint" mixed at a good paint shop that will match the wheels. It cost about $35 a half pint but last a long time. To repair a small curb rash on a wheel, remove the tire, clean the area with paint prep. and fill the area with J & B compound. After it sets up, 24 hours, sand the area smooth and paint with the above mentioned paint and a good primer. Not perfect but it's better than $600 wheels. These suggestions are for those of us that need to repair our own cars. No shop would provide this because they cound not warrantee their work and the wheel.

A quick repair is to only smooth it out and touch it up.
I have done so on minor scrapes. paint "match' was done by mixing two touch-up colors (dark gray and medium silver until it matched the color when dry. Not perfect, but you have to look hard to see it when standing next to the car.
Have been tilting the side mirrors as suggested.

The low profile tires and 18" rims are such a horrible match for me. I can't say that I would recommend them to anyone. I just scratched another rim. Very angry.

I haven't had problems yet, and I parallel park every night, I just drive around until I find a nice big spot. Have you thought about getting different tires? Some tires have a lip on the edge to protect the wheels from the curb.

I've scratched the rims on the last two cars I've owned. 2004 Element and 2009 Fit. I've gotten paranoid and now make wide turns. All of this discussion is keeping me vigilant. I have noticed that some cars rims do stick out past the tire and I noticed that right away on my SLS.

Hi;
Just joined the forum as I'm picking up a 2010 SLS AWD in deep sea blue on Thursday and thought I would make my first post to this thread. I, too, had a 2009 Honda Fit Sport and managed to scratch the rims parallel parking. We'll have to be careful and see if we can avoid repeating this mistake with the Kizashi...

I am very cautious about parking now since my car has alloy rims.
