I frequently use my iPod in the car's stereo system. I have the standard manufacturer stereo in the SE trim.
Whenever I start the car with the iPod plugged in after letting it sit for a while, I get an "ERROR" message on the stereo and the iPod won't play unless I unplug the USB and then plug it back in.
Any insights?
iPod/USB input Issues
Mine does it as well. As far as I can work out its an issue with the ipod not the car. My ipod is the only one that did it out of serveral others I used. Ive had others plugged in my car for weeks with no issue but mine more or less straight away. I noticed on a website several suzuki stereos had been replaced for this issue but didnt solve it.

I get the same issue w/ mine. It's a 5th gen Nano, so it's probably an iPod issue not a car issue.
Even if it's a car issue, for me it's not worth tracking down the source. Just unplug and replug, or listen to FM for a while.

I have a 6th gen Nano. I've had the error message only once or twice and it was after it was already playing. It would end a track and then have an error. Overall, the error is very rare. I believe the error is more related to the device than the car's audio system.Speed_Racer wrote:I get the same issue w/ mine. It's a 5th gen Nano, so it's probably an iPod issue not a car issue.

I do recall someone had a problem with bluetooth connectivity with their iPod Touch and it worked after they reset their iPod. Keep in mind that you can play audio wirelessly with bluetooth audio (iPod Touch and iPhones have bluetooth).

.. the only model ipod I've ever used on mine is a nano, and that has produced the error as well (if its of any help narrowing the issue down).
these days I just keep a usb drive permanaently plugged in and never have any issues.
Cheers

I am getting an error when I plug in a 4gig usb stick, but no error when I plug in a 256 meg one. (it's an old stick)
I've tried everything with the 4 gig. There are only MP3 music files on it, in folders....formatted FAT32. No clue what's going on. Is 4 gig too big maybe?
(I have a 2011 Kizashi, stock stereo)
I have a 32GB ipod plugged into the USB port. works ok...but I do get some weirdness from time to time...for example, I'll tune from USB to radio and both will play at the same time (very odd), or, it won't recognize the USB...

if you read the owner's manual, it says "Capacity less than 4 Gig" in regards to the USB stick requirements.
Doesn't say 4 or less, it says less than 4. That makes me thing a 2 gig might work. Dunno. Not even sure if I can find a 2 gig anymore.
