Squeaky/rattling dashboard anyone?

I have an SX and it is pretty quite, no creaks during driving most of the time.
I am sure the dashboard can be opened. However the dealer didn't want to do it as they could not guarantee success in eliminating the rattle, and they said if there is more squeaks/rattles after they put the dash back I will blame them.fujio001 wrote:Can the dash board be removed? If so then a something like Dynamat or something similar could change the resonant frequency of the dash board and possibly improve the rattle.
We need a dash board removal tutorial!
Also in Australia rattles are not covered under warranty.
The rattle is still driving me crazy. It is so annoying and it will probably affect the resale value of the car. I feel upset when driving the car.

Honestly, I have a rather love/hate relationship with my Kizashi. I mean, I love how the car looks, I love how the interior is laid out, and it pretty much has all the features that I would really want in a car (except for some extra pep). On top of that, I always get compliments on the car, often from complete strangers who just happen to see it.
But these rattles are driving me nuts! Now the rattle from the door panel is near constant, and the thump happens on pretty much every single bump in the road. Of course, my incompetent dealer (the only one in my area that services Suzuki's) tells me I'm crazy and that there's nothing wrong with the car!
It just really dampens the fun of driving my Kizashi (well, that and the fact that my dealer also screwed something up with my steering on a recent wheel alignment to make it feel loose and sloppy--but that's another story), and sometimes I start thinking of how I could offload the vehicle and get something else... but then at the same time I can't imagine letting it go

If this is any consolation, I recently had a good drive of my uncle's 2010 VW Jetta TDI.
It costs more than the XLS in Australia, but in no way the interior is near as refined or upmarket as the Kizashi.
It feels very 'base' model. Everything is hard plastic. Design is so dated.
It rattles without end. The centre speaker grill rattles at every pick up,
both front doors, in front of the dash, under the dash, from within the air vents... and there's a weird mechanical sound when it gets bumpy.
Getting back into my Kizashi made me feel so happy.
Perhaps look at the majority of positives of the car, rather than the few negatives.
There's no guarantee another car will be dead quiet. I've sat in a few Hondas, Toyotas, and even Lexus that rattles. My last car (2004 Mazda6) was dead quiet, but my buzzing Kizashi is 90% a better car.

I had a suspension/tyre specialist looked at my alignment and wheel balance sometime last year.smsmart wrote: It just really dampens the fun of driving my Kizashi (well, that and the fact that my dealer also screwed something up with my steering on a recent wheel alignment to make it feel loose and sloppy--but that's another story), and sometimes I start thinking of how I could offload the vehicle and get something else... but then at the same time I can't imagine letting it go
It was all over the place. They fixed it up really good for me.
That was my other serious option for a new vehicle - but the TSI model. I read way too many bad problems with the engines and VW servicing expenses. So glad I bought the Kizashi instead. Even my "elcheapo" bottom spec model is very nice - the interior and exterior styling, ride/ handling, fuel efficiency. Only one annoying rattle that one day I'll track down (I'd rather fix it myself than get the dealer to look at it.)CLLee wrote:If this is any consolation, I recently had a good drive of my uncle's 2010 VW Jetta TDI.

For what is is worth...my buzzing seems to come from a piece right under the stereo...and I am noticing that when it is warm out (i.e. the interior of the car is warm)...there is less buzzing. So, I am assuming that the pastic expands a bit when it is warm and has less room to wiggle. Doesn't fix anything...just figured I'd point it out.

I noticed something that may be contributing to the noise. The passenger seat is positioned very close to the center console (basically touching). I find that when I hit bumps the leather rubs against the console and creates a squeaking noise. If I place my hand between the seat and console to space it out, the noise stops.
