Quite clever. I wonder what the depth is of each marktwoqttsdad wrote:Kinda neat how Continental has the DWS molded in the shoulder and using them as wear indicators.
New Tire Suggestions

Set me back just over $700 plus what the installer will charge. Road hazard comes with it. Not sure how much they'll hit me for the TPMS work, though. I'll let everyone know how I like time once they are installed.

These were stock on the Porsche back in 2005 and were quite good until they wore out (quite quickly). I've heard the same good grip experiences from the newest versions, although I'd expect the same quick wear or deteriorated performance as the old versions.twoqttsdad wrote:I would go for the Pilots Sports A/S for the all season performance, but if all I wanted was a quiet long lasting tire, the MXM4's would be my choice.smsmart
Does anyone have any experience with Michelins? I'm thinking about getting either the Pilot Sport A/S 3 or the Primacy MXM4's.
Just my two cents.
I wonder if other manufacturers will follow suit and add a 'replace me!' verbage as a wear indicator.bootymac wrote:Quite clever. I wonder what the depth is of each marktwoqttsdad wrote:Kinda neat how Continental has the DWS molded in the shoulder and using them as wear indicators.

If they are reusing the old sensors, then it should be a max of $7.50 for a new washer and stem bolt for each sensor. You will not need a relearn.LPSISRL wrote:Not sure how much they'll hit me for the TPMS work, though.
However, if you're getting new sensors, you will need a relearn. But no worries on that as the code has been cracked. You can do a relearn faster than the dealership can and for free.

Don't know. I haven't picked them up from the dealership yet.KuroNekko wrote:SamirD,
How are your new Potenzas?

I'm going to try to do this when I go home for Easter.
Just finished mounting them Sunday, so some initial impressions:KuroNekko wrote:SamirD,

- smooth and quiet. The car is very quiet and smooth on good pavement
- less bumpy. Definitely not as harsh as the Dunlops we had with 30k on them. If the snow tires were a 1 for smoothness and the Dunlops were a 5 for harshness, these are a 3.5.
- great grip! I haven't pushed any cornering as I want them to wear the outer layers (thank you to whoever mentioned the protective layering in this thread), but they feel like they stick MUCH stronger than the Dunlops. Keep in mind our Dunlops were worn, but these are at least a 2x increase in lateral grip, and I'm suspecting it will be more like 3x at the limit.
Hope this helps.
Yes, thanks. I want the grip, but also want a quiet and comfortable ride. Sounds like the summer Pontenzas are a good fit.SamirD wrote:Just finished mounting them Sunday, so some initial impressions:KuroNekko wrote:SamirD,

I'm like you in that I wanted all-out grip. The quiet and smooth ride was a very unexpected bonus.KuroNekko wrote:Yes, thanks. I want the grip, but also want a quiet and comfortable ride. Sounds like the summer Pontenzas are a good fit.
