Just bought my Kizashi and every time I drive it I like it more. The only thing I don't like is the steering wheel is pretty slippery. Either way love the car. 2011 GTS AWD Loaded 16500 mi paid $14000.00.

Do I need to go in for the spider recall? Seems like overkill.

Gas milage is only about 26 mi per gallon, 80% highway. How long before I start to see the 30 advertised?

Thanks,

You may not, depending upon how you drive. The CVT and the AWD are both bad for mileage. Put 40 psi in the tires, drive as if there's a raw egg between your foot and the pedal, and keep it below 70.

As Woodie said, it's all about how you drive. Make sure you turn off the AWD when you don't need it like on dry freeways. Keep it under 70 MPH with smooth acceleration and braking and you should see near 30 MPG for highway even with AWD.

I have a 6 speed manual which is EPA rated at 29 MPG highway. I've seen 34 MPG on long trips of freeway cruising if I keep it around 70 or under.

Other suggestions to increase fuel economy would be to remove any unnecessary items from your car that weigh it down. Also, using synthetic motor oil may give it an incremental improvement as well.

As for the spider recall:
I think it's best to get that done though I have not got around to it yet. I've been somewhat busy lately. However, I've spotted the very species of the spider numerous times on my car so I know that in my region, my Kizashi is susceptible. Given it's a recall, it's best to get it taken care of.

If the spiders like fuel so much, I suggest serving it flambé

Yes get the recall done now. If you get spiders down the line, you might be on the hook to replace the parts yourself on your own dime.

Takes about 2-4 hours at the dealer.

Beautiful car dego. I am always jealous of the silver kiz cause I wish I had one. I like black but it is a pain to keep nice.

That is a long time! Mine took 15 minutes I want to say.

Since I started driving the car Ive noticed my milage creeps up a little every day. Im up to 27.4. I keep it under 80 if that counts for anything and will only use the AWD when needed.

I guess Ill plan on going to my local deal....oh wait. After doing a bit of research there is a Kia dealer about 60 miles from me that is doing the recall repairs.

Knight its actually ice blue, but very close to silver.

Glad to see this site is active, I wasn't sure because mine is the only Kizashi I have seen in the last two years in Massachusetts.

Thanks guys.

Welcome to this forum of guys with great taste. We all know a great car when we see it.
When you put some synthetic oil in and get some decent tires on your mileage should improve. My manual FWD Kizzy is now averaging 33-34mpg but I drive miles at 55 on uncongested roads. I rarely spend much time in the city.
