Customer wanted Silver control enclosures for his new product line and didn't have a paint spec. So I pointed out the window at the Kizashi and said how about that Silver? 'Perfect" he says. Sooooo...

Paint code is on an ID plate, pass side door jamb. That's why I'd pointed the car out to the guy, easy paint code acquisition. Called our paint supplier (we spray automotive type paint on enclosures when needed) gave him the paint code (ZNC), color name (they don't need that), year, make and model. A gallon then showed up at the door.

Ronzuki what'd it cost for a gallon? and also who is your paint supplier? I'm trying to re shoot my front bumper cover. Hell I'd pay you to ship some to my house.

Any automotive paint supplier can supply the paint given the code. We purchase by the gallon and I'm sure it was probably all of $200. Haven't seen an invoice it. I'm sure you can obtain quarts. We don't clear coat our electrical enclosures, so you'll need that as well. Honestly, there's more to painting plastic/rubber parts than just getting the paint. I also believe there's flex additives that have to be mixed in for things like bumper covers and mud guards. I'd just bite the bullet and have an auto body shop do it unless you really know what you're doing and have the quality equipment needed. I sure wouldn't have our guy here shoot anything for my car...it's not his thing. He's OK on steel enclosures that don't need a car's final finish quality. We shoot the boxes and it is what it is...orange peel be damned...no sanding, no re-shooting or clear coating. About a month or so ago he I guess he didn't put enough hardener in the mix for one of my projects and after more than 2 weeks of sitting it was still tacky to the touch. Couldn't wait any longer and had to get a new enclosure in and start over.

I got my touch-up paint bottle from the site below and the paint they sent was a perfect match. It looks like they make the requested paint in all kinds of applications from spray cans to paint pens.

Old thread but I'm curious on what prep methods you did.

DA sand, wipe clean with a tach cloth, then a final wipe with a clean lint-free rag with a touch of some nasty smelling stuff to degrease and then spray the paint on.
