I'm waiting to hear back from the gym as businesses have general liability insurance (no matter what they say about 'not being responsible'). I know their deductible will be higher than mine, so they'd be out of pocket. But better them than me.
No wonder insurance rates are sky high. So now, when I lose my cigarette lighter, I should flail around looking for someone to sue?

Buy a fob off Ebay for $50 and program it yourself, the instructions are in the owner's manual. Make your wife pay for the next tank of gas, that's about even.
When you operate with negligence, you should pay the price for that, not others. I know this from the other side of it too, being a business owner. If this was something cheap or easily remedied, I wouldn't care as much.

I just checked the owners manual and didn't find any instructions. In fact, I was just reading the service manual and it even mentions you need the Suzuki tool. Where did you find instructions? I'd gladly do it myself vs going to the dealership if I know how.

I'm not sure I get what they mean by this in the service manual. It seems like the Keyless Start Control Module has to be replaced under certain circumstances, which leads me to believe that the keys are write-once encoded to the module.
 Register remote controller ID code using "Immobilizer Key Registration" function in SUZUKI scan tool.
 Remote controller registration is performed through "Immobilizer Key Registration", and this registers
the immobilizer transponder code.
 Performing "Immobilizer Key Registration", clears all of the ID codes already registered. Replace all of
the remote controllers.
 It is possible to register 4 remote controllers in keyless start control module.
 If the keyless start control module is replaced, replace all of the remote controllers.
 If all of the remote controllers are lost, register remote controllers after replacing keyless start control
module.
Anyone concur?

I'd say maybe at this point. Good news is you haven't lost ALL of your remotes, just the one. That being said, sometimes you need both in your possession in order to add a third. I know the security key on the Jeep I needed the two original security keys to add the third. While it was not a FOB, it was a 'chipped' key that was sensed by the anti-theft module near the ignition switch.

Same with my former Mazda3 key. You needed two keys to program the third. The only exception was going to a dealer. Much like the Jeep, it was for a micro-chipped physical metal key.

I'm sorry, I thought it was in the owner's manual. I did find that the dealer can disallow the missing fob.

I'm almost certain I read about it at some point. Searched 19 pages of posts on here and didn't find it. Maybe it was in the service manual.

Should be a convenience store, not a government agency

Yep, that matches my conversation with the dealership here. 8-)

I combed the service manual throughly for a workaround to the dealership, but couldn't find one. :( If someone knows of another way to add a fob, please post a link. I'd love to save the 2hrs in driving even though I enjoy the conversations with Steve.
