The OE Delkor was made in Korea, built according to Johnson Controls' specification...so says the label. I wonder if the bulging side walls of the battery case are per specification as well.

Yes sir, the Optima def. has more starting grunt, and as an added bonus, my headlights are a bit more 'illuminating' in the dark morning now.

So did the dealership do anything about the damage?

There's a Delkor in the 2011 that we're looking at. I'm going to have to check for bulging sides. If so, my original yellow top optima from the late 1990s can go in there. That battery has seen over 5 vehicles already, lol.

Back in the 80s I had a DieHard that was like that. I kept swapping it from one used chevy to another for countless years. Truly a Die-Hard battery.

I haven't taken it back in yet. With the new battery I know it's not going to happen again.

Bummer they didn't offer some compensation. It's why I never want to leave my car with someone to work on it--just another screw up that I have to fix myself. Better to just let me do the maintenance.

That's part of the reason why I haven't rushed back to get it looked at again!

I'd only do that to make they pay out something for the damage they caused. That rust can't be fixed without some work on your part. :(
