Winter driving the SLS AWD - 11/7/12 Nor'easter
Drove from White Plains west on 287, over the Tappan Zee, down 9W, onto the Palisades Parkway from Alpine to Fort Lee. About 28 miles. Left when there was 4 inches of snow, mixing with sleet as I got further south toward Fort Lee. Never touched bare pavement or salted roads. Heading down the Palisades Parkway, I heard the weather report warning of "frozen fog" - which contributes to black ice. The Kizashi handled it all quite well, despite the wide tires on 18" wheels. Yes there was some wiggling -and bit of fishy business when I turned sharply up a fairly steep side street. Dedicated winter tires and wheels certainly would improve the experience. My old FWD Passat felt at least as secure as this on its narrower, higher profile tires. If I did more of this kind f winter commuting I would definitely consider a winter set.

Same here, Im in CT and drove home yesterday in 3 inches of snow for 40 miles, I turned the AWD on and was having exellent traction - other cars on the highway were either stuck or slipping and sliding all over. My last mile before I get home is up a long hill where I passed 4 cars stuck spinning the front wheels, a hyunday sonata, ford taurus, honda accord and BMW - the BMW was still park on the side of the road this morning burried in the snow bank. My home driveway is about 300 ft up a hill and the car drove right up in about 3 inches of snow without any wheel spin... Love the AWD...
