No joke. The factory paint job for the entire car, including the wheels, is pathetic. It's the thinnest and weakest paint I've ever seen. I feel like Suzuki put a lot of money in some aspects of the car yet totally cut corners on the paint and finish of the Kizashi. The manager of the shop was surprised to learn it was the factory paint that was coming off and not some other paint job. Regardless, the wheels had no paint issue before the shop did what they did to detail them.

Mine chips when I look at it wrong. I'm just setting aside $ now for the inevitable front end repaint and refinishing the wheels.

My wheel paint turned bad a few hours (coincidentally after dark) after I had went to a touchless car wash to get winter road crap off my car. Didn't notice until the next morning. It wasn't quite as bad as that, but very noticeable from 10ft.

Glad the shop will paint them for you, awesome resolution but sucks it happened.

Gassed it up (Turkey Hill 87 octane) and :drive: it. This tank yielded 29.4 mpg. Same 'ole rural roads to work and back. Mixed driving, Avg speeds 45-60 mph.

Hi guys!
First time posting here.

Plastidipped my rims that were horribly peeled off.

I used Gunmetal Gray and Graphite Metalizer on top of it.

Greetings.

Welcome!

Coincidentally, I just had my wheels refinished following some wheel paint damage that occurred when a body/detailing shop washed the wheels.

I got my Kizashi back from the body shop. They repainted the wheels given they damaged them when they detailed the car last week. They were surprised that the factory paint quality was this bad to the point where the paint came off from detailing.
Anyhow, they repainted my wheels and the color came out unintentionally darker than the original. They showed me the wheels to see what I thought, but I liked it so I'm staying with it.
The wheels now look like a mix between the factory silver color and gunmetal. While the wheels no longer really match the chrome trim pieces on my Kizashi Sport, I do like the wheel color itself. Also, given that the new paint job covered up all my curb rashes, I can't really complain. Truth be told, the custom paint job on the factory wheels is growing on me given I've always liked the gunmetal look on wheels. Hopefully, the paint will last much longer than the original paint.

Here's the factory paint as it looked last week on the only wheel that wasn't too damaged:

Here's the new finish. It's considerably darker with what looks like a tone of gunmetal mixed in.

I forget who did the spring/trunk mod but I did sort of the same. But I drilled holes in the hinges for the springs on both sides.
