I am getting some snows tires and do not want to pay an extra $400 for 18" snows. I have a pull-a-part joint by me with a lot of Suzukis and the wheels are $10 a piece. My question is what is the smallest size wheel anyone has run on a GTS AWD and from what model/trim was it from? I can take me...

You do not need studded tires unless you live in an area that has icy roads most of the winter. Studs really do not provide any advantage in just snow. The traction control will still work. I think he is talking about phenolic spacers, which have been proven to reduce heat transfer from the block to intake manifolds. I had one on my Impreza and saw intake temps drop 25 degrees, so they do work. A throttle body spacer would have little or no effect, due to the low surface area.

I always get Nokian Hakkapalita snows, they are the best snow tire I've ever used hands down. They are certainly more expensive but absolutely worth it.
