They simply did a diagnostic to see if the car is using the old software , and if it is they will reflash the ECM with the new software, which is exactly what they did. sounds like your dealer is an idiot. Where are you located? If you live in the tri state area I know the dealers at bergenfield and wayne suzuki will help you out. Take it to another place it doesn't have to do it in front of them, and it probably never will.

I'm sure they would replace it. If you don't want another SRI, ask them for the rear sway bar. I just installed mine, and it is a great mod.

stock size of 215/55/17, no spacers, no need. The SX4 has the same off set. for my next set of tires I would like to go with 235/50/17, which is the same diameter.
