I've had the same issue since I purchased my GTS in April. I had it in for service last Friday and told them the following symptons: Volumes self increases when listening to any source at volume 15 or above. I mostly listen to USB, so thats where I notice it most. AVC has been turned off since the first day I drove it. I notice it most when speed changes, like when I hit 40 or 50mph.
They called Suzuki rep and he recommended they replace my amp. They did. Still having the problem. They said they will most likely replace the stereo next.. I'm doubting that will work. I think its an inherent defect in the software and they will need to find a way to do firmware updates on the stereo to correct the issue. I wish they could code a firmware update to make the display scroll the names of songs/etc as well.
Doubt either will be fixed.
TSB on SLS audio system
Thanks for the update! If by chance you can check with your Suzuki Rep and get the TSB #, the rest of us can use that information as needed. If you weren't already aware, evidently Suzuki is not making their TSB's accessible to the public without a paid subscription.ben-gal-fan wrote:I've had the same issue since I purchased my GTS in April. I turned off the AVC, still getting wild swings in volume. Seems to happen at speed, with the volume cranked up. Listened to some old school rock and I really noticed it. A trip to the dealer.
Anybody have the TSB# from a work order?

I am surprised that your amp switch did not work, my amp was replaced for me and that seemed to do the trick. With the new amp I can even keep avc on without it making distractingly odd volume changes. After having it work correctly for a few weeks now, I think wonky volume with AVC on is also a symptom of the bad amp.
I wonder if you were so unlucky as to get a second bad amp.
Sorry I took so long to check back in. I looked on the work order, but I don't see a TSB number listed for replacing the amplifier. The work was done about a month ago, and it has completely fixed the problem.
For those of you who are questioning whether it occurs on models other than the SLS, I don't know. It was my experience that it would happen when I had the "Punch Bass" feature enabled (not sure, but I think this might be only on the SLS with the RF audio system). As I said, the volume would be at the level I wanted, then would randomly get either significantly louder or quieter at random. Not related to speed or hitting a bump, or having the AVC enabled or disabled.
When I took it to the dealer, they couldn't reproduce it, but they looked and there was a TSB on the issue, which was to replace the amplifier, and it has not happened once since they did that.
Hope this helps!

Punch Bass is on the GTS as well, it also has the RF system. Thanks for the update!

Can you call your dealer and ask what the TSB# is on this?? I've had mine in the dealership twice now and they can't reproduce it even though it's happened to me each time I've taken it in.Zen RN wrote:Sorry I took so long to check back in.
