Bluetooth Audio vs Steering Wheel Controls

I've been having issues with my bluetooth audio connection. I have an ipod touch (3g) that I've had paired with my car (2010) for as long as I've had it and just recently started having problems with it. It stopped letting me change the songs using the controls on my steering wheel. I'm not sure if this is an issue with the Ipod or the car but I'm really bummed because the bluetooth audio was my favorite feature of the car. It still plays but I have to press play to get it to start (when before it played automatically) and I have to change the songs through the Ipod. Any ideas on how to fix this?

I don't see from your note that you've tried rebooting the IPod etc. Have you tried to do so and reset the connection? The couple of times I've had some difficulty an Iphone connection reset has worked. As to the Kizashi I think there's some kind of automatic reboot 'cause some problems go away eventually automatically.

every now and then my phone stops working, all I do is repair the phone with the radio and its all good again. This has happened twice in 3 months so far...

Until this original post, I had no idea that my iPod Touch 3rd gen had Bluetooth. I have since tried it with the Bluetooth audio in the car and love it. I used to just plug it in via USB.

I would also recommend that you re-set up your connection. Delete the Bluetooth audio device via the car and re-establish the device connection via "Set up".
Also, opt for the car connection instead of the Bluetooth audio device when it gives you the choice. I found that if you select the car connection, the car will automatically connect to the iPod when it turns on. Otherwise, you have to deal with it through the iPod and it's not automatic.

I really need to read up on the Bluetooth audio features and learn more about it. I have only used it for the phone thus far. I wonder if I can switch devices easily while driving.

My 1G Ipad has Bluetooth and the last time I had an error message both the IPhone and the IPad were trying to connect at the same time. Plus, the IPad was connected to the USB to try and charge it. The IPad was never paired so go figure.

My car is currently getting worked on but as soon as I get it back I'll try out these suggestions. Before I took it in, I did try deleting the device and repairing but that didn't seem to work.

Also, I have both my Ipod and Iphone connected and I don't have any errors. I can play my Ipod and make/receive phone calls at the same time. My ipod will stop and let the iphone through. It's pretty awesome

Reseting my Ipod to its factory settings did the trick! Everything is working again!

Nice. So it sounds like the issue was with the iPod, huh?
I have tried out the Bluetooth audio with my iPod Touch. It's rather neat as the iPod acts like a remote for the audio system, but I did notice that the audio quality is not as good compared to when it is plugged in via USB. I have been listening to music all this time via USB so I was able to tell a bit of the quality difference when I tried the Bluetooth.
Despite the quality degradation, I think the Bluetooth audio is still quite awesome.

Does anybody know if it's possible to choose a specific playlist using only the steering wheel controls? only way I've figured out is to press the USB button and hold it down more than a second, etc etc. a pain when you're driving.
