Got an oil change at my (ex) dealer. They have done right by me and I have trusted their suggestions and work in the past. I had just passed 60,000 miles in my 2010 FWD SE. The service manager showed me a list of 60,000 mile scheduled maintenance items that I assume were spit out from Suzuki software. The list included spark plugs, cabin filter, Brake Flush, Tire rotation and... Rear Differential Service and Transfer Case service. I said whoa... this isn't AWD so there shouldn't be a rear differential or a transfer case. :?: The manager went back and double checked to confirm the two items which he did. I stooped down and peaked under the rear of car, there is no deferential case there.

Is there something here I am missing? How many people have been charged for this 60,000 mile service?

Never ask a dealer to simply perform an xxxxx mile service. Particularly a Suzuki. If they are primarily a Chrysler dealer, for instance, you'll get a all the stuff done that Chrysler may want done at 60k. Or, you may get what that dealer wants to up-sell you for their definition of a 60k service. You might as well write them a blank check. Always tell them specifically what things you want done and ask what the costs are for each.
Take his list and start circling the things you want done after you've verified what Suzuki recommends at 60k miles in the vehicle maintenance schedule that came with your car that corresponds to your service duty (severe or normal).

Go by the owner's manual on service intervals and what should be done when. (You can even find a PDF version on this forum).
I don't go to dealerships for service and do most of it myself. The owner's manual is how I know when things are to be done.

Also, you are correct. A FWD model will not have a transfer case or a rear differential. If it did, then it would be AWD, obviously.
