My girl friend is signing the papers for a 2012 se awd cvt tonight with 28000 miles. Still has 5 year warranty left. Should I be concerned that it has the cvt.

No. The Kizashi is not known for problems with the CVT. While CVTs tend to give owners more trouble than the manual transmission, it's not like the Kizashi's JATCO CVT is notorious for issues. Only a few have had problems and the large majority of Kizashis have the CVT.
Also, the SE trim was only offered with the CVT. The AWD system is also only offered with the CVT. All manual Kizashis are FWD.

The Kizashi is a relatively problem-free car and the warranty coverage is great.

Keep an eye on it and get anything unusual documented with the dealer. (You don't have to search too hard on here to find quite a few people who have had issues.)

Suzuki cars are incredibly reliable. They really go above and beyond when it goes to customer satisfaction, but like all other car companies, they still have problems now and again. For instance, the 2007 SX4's were known for a bad batch of crank bearings that would lead to catastrophic engine failure at about 60K miles. I found this out about a month after buying my 2007 SX4. I was told this affected nearly 30% of all 2007 models. Fast forward 2 and a half years and 40K miles, and other than a bad TPMS sensor (which still isn't fixed...) and I haven't had a single issue out of the car. Some Kizashis may have CVT issues, (my wife's is a Manual) but certainly not all of them will. She bought a good car with wonderful warranty backing. Buckle up and enjoy the ride!

Ive always thought they were good cars. We recently moved and she needed something awd or 4wd. But we both like it alot. It's a big upgrade from her aveo (hated that car with a passion). We have no complaints at the moment.

Congrats on the new ride. I've had no issues with mine and neither had the previous owner. About 46k miles on the clock.
BTW - why do you think that the dealer ate some dough? Dealers very seldom acutally lost money on a deal. We just like to think that (or maybe they want us to think that) they did so we feel great about the deal we made. They smile as they make their bank deposit each day...

I say that because it sat on there lot for awhile. they have quite the few suzukis already came down 2 grand I tried asking to see more come off the price and they wouldn't said he could give us more on are trade . One dealer offered 5500 and one offered 6000 he had are trade in 6500 never sall that coming that was more than fair.
Unfortunately we owed 9500 on her car so we would have to add 3000 to the purchase price of the suzuki.
We showed up on a Saturday afternoon they ran a credit check and they only approved 2000 grand over the purchase price so we asked if her pap co sighing would help. They said it might. Going on 5oclock they should have been closed are sales man had to leave to finish up paper work with another sale. And left us with the sales manager still waiting to hear from the banks. So around 610 sales manager walked out and said she was approved and they would finish paper work with us on Monday. Put a dealer plate on it said to drive it.
Monday received a call from are salesman said he didn't forget about us. that he was still working on getting her approved. She had told him that his manager said she was and that she wouldn't of kept the car if he hadn't said that. He said he had no part in what was said once he left.
Got a call later said they Got it worked out came to her paps and and they added another 1150 to the trade in. So she could finance it alone didnt need her pap. Overall they gave her 2650 over kbb trade in .
Also checked there website there asking 1100 over what she paid a little more than a year ago. And its going to need oil change breaks, and tires. Sorry its long

Going from an Aveo to a Kizashi is a huge difference. The Aveo is a piece of shit and related to the junky Daewoos that were sold as rebadged Suzukis (Reno, Verona, and the Forenza). I've even heard of the Aveo using a plastic timing chain tensioner that simply disintegrates over time.
Despite their boom in popularity, I consider Korean cars as rather distant from Japanese reliability and dependability, especially in high mileage. I have yet to hear of a Korean car with 200,000+ miles while there are countless Camrys of that mileage driven all over the place by teens who don't even know how to check the oil.

The Suzuki Kizashi is an incomparable upgrade in everything from refinement, performance, to safety.
