I called Suzuki and pleaded my case...they relented and agreed to pay "their rate" for the repair at the local shop (had it done today). I have to email my paid receipt and they'll reimburse me. Granted, it's less than the shop charged me but it's a big chunk of the expense. The shop said they "followed the book" and downloaded the Suzuki instructions for replacing the seal (used a "genuine" Suzuki seal) and all went well. They test drove the car and rechecked the seal...all is well and no more leaking (mechanic said the leak wasn't terrible but it was a good idea to get it done...leaking seals don't get better). The transfer case was full so apparently not much leaked out.
I'm not sure why they said it wasn't covered in the first place...decided not to pursue that. If not for the recommendations on here I probably wouldn't have bothered to call them back...owe you guys a beer. Hopefully this solves the issue...thanks to all...
Leaking transfer case
Interesting saga. I've talked to Suzuki North America about warranty issues before, and they'll give you a straight answer if you ask them a straight question. I'm curious where in our warranty paperwork that it specifies that seals aren't covered. That could possibly mean every seal in the whole drivetrain isn't covered (including the head gasket?). Sounds Ludicris to me...
Interesting. Yours was covered under warranty? So why was the OPs not?koii25 wrote:I have the same oil leak. Today. I simply took my car to the former suzuki dealer (now its mitsubishi), they told me it is under warranty.and btw there is 2 recallls on my car. They will need me drop for 2 days. It seems gonna be big job.
i have no idea why ops not under warranty. but on the suzuki website says awd components are sure under powertrain warranty. btw it is been 3 weeks since i post. they havenot call me to setup the repair. i call them once after 2 weeks. they told me they still waitting on parts .SamirD wrote:Interesting. Easy, that usually has everything to do with the ex-dealer/service center's relationship with ASMC. The OP's dealer probably has/had a poor working relationship with Suzuki and they know they possibly run the risk of being denied reimbursement for the work.SamirD wrote:Interesting. It's easier, and less trouble for them, to say "not covered" and have you pay for it. Worse, (and this never happens
