This past week, I started hearing a rattle that seemed like it was coming from the driver's side B Pillar, right by my head. I had a passenger sit in the back and they agreed that it seems to be coming from there. I have no idea what triggered this, as it just started immediately one morning despite not doing anything the previous night. It sounds like plastic and is persistent over even the slightest imperfections in the road.

I tore the trim off this morning to have a look, but I couldn't identify anything that might be the culprit. The only thing that seems to be in there is the seatbelt mechanism, and I have tried holding it in place while driving to see if that would make a difference but the sound still persists. My new theory is that it is either in the headliner or somewhere else, and only seems like it is coming from there because the sound is traveling through the opening for the seatbelt.

Has anyone experienced this or have an idea of what it could be? Having a constant rattling noise right next to my ear is a sick form of torture that I would not wish on anyone.

I have something of a noise on occasion from B pillar area(s). I wouldn't call it a rattle exactly. I'm wondering if its not the black plastic on the outside of the car's doors between the windows vibrating while driving. Air flow coupled w/ temperature changes kind of a thing.

I just turn the RF tunes box up a few more notches and continue :drive: on my way....problem solved.

Are you sure it's not the moonroof? You drive an SLS so you have one. Nearly all the rattles in my car come from the moonroof, specifically, the wind buffer.

I'm pretty sure, because the sound definitely seems to be coming from behind me to the left. I did fiddle with it a little bit initially to try to rule it out and didn't notice anything.
