Trouble putting car in park

I have a 2011. Lately I have been having trouble putting my car in park. When I try to move the gear shift into park, sometimes I encounter little resistance, other times the gear shift completely stops before I get to park. My local service center has not heard of this problem. Has anyone else experienced this?
I don't own an automatic so I can only provide limited suggestions, but for starters, did you get the recall work done? The shifter for the vehicle was subject to a recall. That may be a round-about way of getting this issue resolved for free by an Authorized Suzuki Service Dealer.

If it hasn't been done to the car, it's free. Just give them your car's VIN and they can looki it up to see if the safety recall # VL was completed on it. I'm on my fifth or sixth notice for the K and the SX4, so they know it hasn't been done yet.

I did have the repair done for the recall. Thanks for the suggestion though.
Does it seem more of an issue with the shifter or the actual transmission?alonti.moore-maeda wrote:I did have the repair done for the recall. Thanks for the suggestion though.

And this is exactly why I refuse to have it done. There's nothing wrong with our shifters in both cars. The monkeys get in there to 'fix' something that isn't even a problem, and now there are problems. If I have issues then I'll take it back to have it 'fixed'.alonti.moore-maeda wrote:I did have the repair done for the recall. Thanks for the suggestion though.
Take it back and tell them to fix it again especially since this was a "safety" related recall to begin with. You can always play the 'safety card', raise a little bit of hell in the service area and get them to see the light.
Better yet, before you take it back, call American Suzuki Motor Corp in Brea, CA. Explain to them them you had the VL recall done (they'll want your VIN) and now your shifter is not functioning correctly. Demand that it be fixed properly. It's not safe, my children are in the car, yadda, yadda...get the idea? Get them to open a 'case #' on it and get that number. Keep in mind they don't dole those out freely. You're likely going to have work a little bit for it. Once they decide to actually open a case, things get done. The explain to the service center you have a case open w/ ASMC (give them the number) so they know they're needing to play by some different rules now (read: they know they'll stand a good chance of getting reimbursed).
good luck
