Why are both of my batteries going bad? I only use one? have the same issue with both. Hard to believe that is coincidence. Also, my car battery seems to be sluggish when starting. It should be replaced. Could this have anything to do with it?

I finally changed the battery in both my remotes and it appears to be ok, the cold weather has not affected the fob so far.... Keeping fingers crossed.

Perhaps the age of the batteries? If you drive a 2010 or 2011, it's about time the fob batteries and even the car battery starts weakening. I've already replaced the battery in my main fob and the OE car battery isn't starting the car easily in the cold like it did years ago. It may need replacement next winter.

Yea.. I read somewhere that even though one key isn't being used it still drains the battery some because it's running and searching for a signal. True or not I will repalce the car battery and the key batteries. Appreciate the knowledge here

How hard do you have to pry to open up the key remote? Mine doesn't seem budge

Not too hard, but try a twisting motion once you have something in the groove. If it does not pop off, but slightly opens, stick an object in the space and wedge it open by going all around the remote.
Also, be aware of the rubber gasket that lines the edge of the remote. You want to make sure that's properly in place when you're reassembling the remote.

I had to hold the key in my hand a few seconds before it would work. I did end up having the batteries replaced when I got a new fob (did not come with 2nd fob) and haven't had that problem since.

Does anyone know how to replace the battery yourself? What kind of battery is it?

My key fob doesn't work when cold at all. Had the dealer replace the battery and it still doesn't work when cold. Have to warm it up before it will do anything and I have push to start  2015 Chrysler 200s. Just another problem to add to the list of issues with this car. PS. I have 2 fobs, both new batteries, and they both do it.

Hi there, I believe your problem is that you have a Chrysler product. ''Just another problem to add to the list of issues with this car''. Chrysler and Jeep are known to be ''not that reliable''. I actually sold some tires to a guy 3 months ago and he had a 2016 Chrysler 200 sport. He told me I had a nice car and I replied right away that our cars actually looked similar and his was nice as well. He then advised me he hoped mine was not a POS like his indicating he had several issues with already (we did not go into details tho...). Any key fob should work during cold times...
