I decided to make this a new thread since the TSB is out. If you are experiencing the occasional long crank/start up, the problem lies with the ECM. There is now updated software to reflash your ECM to take care of this problem. Suzuki says the cause is a possible intermittent various timing condition.

Thank you for the information. Had this occur only once in nearly 13,000 miles. I will be sure to have the flash done next trip to the dealer which won't be for quite some time :D

Strange how this happens once or twice and then no more. Had the same experience very early on. Never again. Wierd!

asked about this today at the dealer, checked the car and said it doesn't apply since the car didn't do it in front of them and there was no record of an extended crack time, refused to update the ECM.

i've had it happen 5-6 times in 25k miles.

so annoying

sounds like your dealer is an idiot. Where are you located? If you live in the tri state area I know the dealers at bergenfield and wayne suzuki will help you out. Take it to another place it doesn't have to do it in front of them, and it probably never will.

official word from Suzuki and their District manager is in, and unfortunately the dealer must be able to duplicate the issue before the re-flash, despite the fact that it is an intermittent issue.

I wonder why they even put out the TSB, and Kizashi apparently doesn't "record" any service alerts that you get on your dash. I've had "Service TPMS" show up like 5 or 6 times and go away on its own, and yet there's nothing in the car's memory..so they're ignoring it. Same thing with the extended crank time, reportedly it is suppose to be recorded as a diagnostic code that has not thus far registered in my car.

It will be interesting to see who will be able to get this re-flash done.

I got it done at bergenfield Suzuki in NJ. They simply did a diagnostic to see if the car is using the old software , and if it is they will reflash the ECM with the new software, which is exactly what they did. Try to find another dealer, or raise some hell. Suzuki's facebook page has been a new place to do that.
