Is it really 5 seconds- that is a long time? A delay that long could be very dangerous eg. if you've just reversed out into traffic.Juan wrote: its actually about 5 seconds more or less but it feels like an eternity , I'm used to it and come to a complete stop before I shift.
Cvt concerns!!

I don't feel there is a big different between my kizashi and camry while I change from "D" to "R", maybe it is slower, but it seems not so noticeable.

I think there is something wrong with your transmission, I tested my kizzy today from D to R, and from R to D, it almost react immediately.Juan wrote:Ok, I timed it yesterday d best I could, it looks like the delay from D to R is about 3 seconds.
Thats longer than mine.
On a separate note, does anyone feel a rough/grind feel whenever you shift into park? On the shift knob. Feel like metal grinding on metal. It does not do that if I put into neutral, apply hand brake, then park into shift, which I guess is the proper way of parking. But if I only want to temporarily shift into park without applying hand brake first, it feels rough and hard. Nome of my past car felt like this.

2011 Kizash SLS AWD
Mine does the same but I don't know if it is actually a fault or not. Time will tell I guess. The delay in changing from D to R is a bit strange though. My old Camry did it a bit but not 3 seconds. Haven't noticed it on my Kizashi but I'll check next time.
Not me. Don't feel a thing. But just in case, I'll be conscious of it the next time I put it into park.ipaqxman wrote:Thats longer than mine.

This is known as 'shift shock'.
I've noticed that any automatic transmission that's had someone shift without a complete stop--even once--will have this damage. It's the main reason I don't give my cars to dealership to drive. Two of my cars that I bought brand new came back with shift shock after I had to give them for service--even after telling the service people I want it shifted like it says in the manual!
Over time, this damage can lead to things like what you described. My really good friend who's an ASE mechanic had to replace his 98 Accord transmission twice because he kept shifting this way. My 94 Accord never had such problems.
It sounds like the line pressure isn't coming up for reverse like it should be. I'd use the service manual procedure to test the torque converter as well as the whole cvt in general and see if you can narrow it down.
