Hi again David. It is I, "murcod wrote:So do the front and rear sensors both "beep" and does the sound come from the same source? It seems strange the fronts are loud enough but the rears not.
sensor seeking sound sucker still seeking". My solution is to be an" Alpine All In One Navigation Station" Model INA-W910 R incl appropriate rear vision camera. Will cost me $A2385. Booked for installation on 4 Mar. In view of previous costs for other settings, this is reasonable and I could have taken a cheaper unit , also Alpine. I refer back to a remark you made last year about why I can hear front and not rear sensors. The tech at Alpine was amazed at my ignorance....Why he remarked, have you never wondered why your ear is shaped as it is? Sound coming from the rear will skid over your outer ear and pass on, coming from the front it is trapped and channelled inwards by the outer ear shape, which it is so designed to do! GOOGLE! Ron
But doesn't the audio from the sensors (both front and rear) come from that same place (speaker?) in the dash? (Sorry, I've got no idea how the system operates as I haven't got it in my Kizashi.)
You'll like the reversing camera. I invested in one after I realised a full size 240 litre "wheely bin" can't be seen out the rear!

As I said, I have given up trying to fathom the system of the Kisashi buzzers. Happy to pay associated costs of someone else solving my frustrations, not to mention removal of at least one risk factor. Cheers, Ron H
Now; I may be over simplifiying or indeed missing something important / not considering something I should be. It may also be a case that the Australian setup is different to other countries, but my dash has a visual indicator of the sensors as well as an audio indicator.
The visual shows you in 3 stages how close you are to an object and the audio beeps closer together the closer you get.
I had always presumed this was to assist hearing impaired / in situations where its very noisy (heavy rain, very heavy traffic etc) As well as to give greater perspective to the sounds re distances especially when you first get your new vehicle.
Would the visial indicator assist to confirm how close you are to objects given the audio is not that great for you? (assuming your model has the visual indicator of course).
Cheers

You are quite correct Shaneos, it does have visible support for inaudible[to me] warning. However owing to the visual interference caused by the bulk of the steering wheel boss at any given point of manouvering, I do not consider this a satisfactory substitute; too much stopping to peer around aforementioned bulk before continuing. {alternatively, having neck like swan could assist}. Regards Ron H

Ahh ok.. yeah I guess the position of the wheel / not reversing straight back / turnign your head to look behind when reversing would hinder that.
Did you notice if the sound of the beepers was sufficient for your impairment in your test drive before purchase?
Also re some of the other comments, I am sure mine has the beeps coming from the rear speakers for reverse sensors and beeps from the front speakers for front sensors. Maybe this is only an option with rockford fosgate or something? (or maybe my ears are not that great either)

Ahha I say----- Are you now doubting the efficacy of your aural efficiency,(we Aussies understand these big words). I was aware of my hearing deficiencies when I purchased a Mazda 3, SP25 and could not hear the rear sensors on that, whereby I had no trouble with the SP23 2 years before. The message was evident; hearing problems do not improve with time! I recently tested the new Mazda 6 and altho it came with rear vision camera, the rear sensors were of no use. Therefore my solution with the Alpine "got everything" unit should shut me up. Cheers Ron H
Anyone who has shown interest in my problems with not hearing reverse parking sensors may be interested to know that my Alpine unit was to be fitted on 4 Mar. On 27Feb, one of those previously mentioned "blind lady " type drivers drove thru a "Give Way" sign and hit me amidships. Ah me, who was it said that life wasn`t meant to be easy. My intentions still remain but I can`t guarantee my patience!Shaneous wrote:
