CVT issues/questions
update: So I went to the dealer and they needed to do an update on the TCM. However, mine was the first car to recieve it so they had do download the program to their own systems. So Im kind of the guinea pig for the update. It does drive like a different car now so it obviously worked.
well, it engages a little quicker and smoother. It also doesn't shift into the virtual high gear as soon as it used to. Instead of doing it at 20mph, it does it closer to 40 giving it a smoother transition. It even feels more responsive off the line. As far as the BOV noise, its gone except when stomping it from a dig and getting between 3 and 4k rpm and only when its really hot out. It is also not as prevalent sounding. I have to go back so they can put a new usb housing and a third brake light on so I will inquire again then.

Hi Guys, I get the distinct impression from the dealer that the cvt uses "fuzzy logic" to determine gear change points. It "memorises" the previous drive pattern ( don't know how far back it goes ) and uses that for the next change. To me that "fuzzy logic" algorithm is what the update changes do, maybe. Can't get a definitive answer from anyone. If that is the case it's a problem when the missus takes the car out and drives it like a shiela!!!! It would be interesting to see what next happens after you change gears "manually" for a while then go back to "auto".
Ok so I've been searching youtube for others with the whining upoun deceleration and I have seen many people posts that say when the cvt gets hot, things like this happen and that it can also be that a fluid change needs to be conducted. Also, one post said that a sub tranny oil cooler was installed. I figured these already had the oil coolers from the factory. Any insight on this?
