True, but a lot of the technical manuals weren't produced for consumers--they were more for technician training and dealer reference. I'd be really surprised if all they had was the online system, although with everything going electronic, I wouldn't doubt it.
I'm still hoping to find one once I figure out a part number.
Where Can You Buy the Factory Service Manual Printed?
It might just be electronic-only. I know that other car companies already employ electronic-only service manuals. Again stemming from my experience with Mercedes, I know that they in particular use a highly proprietary software package as a technical service manual--it's not just a series of PDF's. And to even run it on your home PC, you would have to run it inside a virtual machine. Otherwise it won't install and run in a regular Windows environment.SamirD wrote:True, but a lot of the technical manuals weren't produced for consumers--they were more for technician training and dealer reference. Last printed manual I obtained was the set for my 2004 Jeep Wranler Rubicon which is the vehicle I had before the Kizashi. Which, BTW, I still have and are for sale. (3 books and covers all 2004 Wrangler models). All the others I've had over the years I was able to sell off.

Yeah, and this is a really bad idea as it's going to limit the service life of vehicles once they're outside of dealership servicing. I know there's Alldata and companies like that for independent shops, but they're never as good as the factory procedures.smsmart wrote:It might just be electronic-only. I actually purchased a version of the Mercedes software to look up things for some of our Mercs, but it was still missing information that would normally be found in the dealership system.

It's been hard for me to find anything for cars 2002+ in print form other than the illegal stuff on ebay and such.
There should be a way for consumers to buy service literature after a certain point. If a car is too expensive for someone else to fix, it will be thrown away unnecessarily. A simple service manual will provide those that are motivated a way to keep their car on the road safely. I see waaaay too many cars die early because of poor servicing.

Manufacturers are not interested in helping you keep any car running any longer 7-10 years tops. Sell, sell, sell.....dividends to the share holders.SamirD wrote:It's been hard for me to find anything for cars 2002+ in print form other than the illegal stuff on ebay and such.

True, but in the face of all the 'green' pressures and positive PR campaigns, you think they'd realize it's a good idea.Ronzuki wrote:Manufacturers are not interested in helping you keep any car running any longer 7-10 years tops. Sell, sell, sell.....dividends to the share holders.

The first step in recycling is not having to throw something away.
