Those are some slick looking discs...I sure hope that's not paint on the wear surface.

The coating rubs off with use.

Zimmerman zinc plated rotors when new:

Correct. They have a protective Zinc coating on the entire rotor. The surface where the pads touch are designed to wear off within the first few minutes of use.

This is the trend now with aftermarket rotors. They do make a difference with rust.
