Zombie thread I know, but I am wondering what good remote start options are out there now.

Who here has remote start? I'm just looking for something simple and inexpensive that won't eff up the car. A good local installer wants $400 to put a decent system in. Don't know what brand it is though.

Any recommendations?

I had a Compustar system put in. I got a 2 way system with a 3000 ft range. Unfortunately, this is still not enough for it to work for the 1200 ft distance from my work to my parking lot as there are buildings and trees in between. I have to walk about 50ft down the block for it to work. Maybe that will change in winter once the leaves fall off the trees. It cost me just under $500 for the install.

I read a few of these old posts and things might have changed since then. I did not have to give up a fob and I don't have to kill the car to get in. I simply press the brake all the way in and release it and it switches over to normal operating mode.

You can buy unprogrammed fobs and take it to a service dealer that can program it to your car, assuming you have another fob to drive the car. If not, you may need to tow it to a Suzuki Service Dealer or another car dealership that works with these fobs. Nissan uses the same fob maker (Calsonic) so I'd try them. The physical key will only unlock the doors, but will not let you start and drive the car.
