Quite clever. I wonder what the depth is of each mark
I wonder if other manufacturers will follow suit and add a 'replace me!' verbage as a wear indicator.
Generals have incorporated that feature on some of their tires....completely idiot proofing tires now (TPMS, "replace me now" indicators...where will the madness end?)
It would be good if the tread wear indicators were made of some fluoro coloured rubber, so when the tyres reach that point it stands out like the proverbial. (If it was that easy for the cops to pick up it might discourage the losers who drive around on near bald tyres.)

When the government deems cars are unsafe and we all have to walk again.

Oooo! This reminds me of the drift tires that would have a colored band in them and smoke in colors when 'burned off'. Anyone else remember those?
DupliColor makes a paint to be used on tire sidewalls. Might be an option for the gal here who likes purple!
A China based tire company called Double Star started a line of colored tires a while back. No idea how they perform. Try and Google them. Bright bright colors! I'll bet they look like crap after a few hundred miles.
So I finally got the Potenzas to squeak when taking a left turn onto another road and purposely cracking the steering wheel all the way to the left at about 35mph. But that's all they did--sqeak. The grip was still there.
I need to unload everything out the trunk and find a place to really drive the car. But I'm going to listen to the engine tick first...

Yep. Kumho made colored smoke tires for the Ecsta SPT:

They also made scented tires
I didn't know about the scented ones! Someone should make candles that smell like those tires did. And look manly too in the shape of a tire. I wouldn't have a problem with candles for decoration anymore with these around the house.
Too bad I haven't seen these around. I bet people were complaining they kept going through tires.
I unloaded the trunk this weekend and had a chance to very mildly play with the car on the highway. The potenzas have very high levels of grip. Since I have almost no idea what the limit is and feel that speeds and lateral gs will be quite high at the limit, I'm almost always severely underestimating what the tires can do.
I've taken a few ramps without braking that normally would have required it. My feeling is that I should be able to take ALL ramps without braking (and maybe all turns period), but I don't have enough confidence yet.
I'm also discovering that the braking isn't what I'd like it to be at these limits. I'm going to need to get some Castrol SRF in this system stat!
