I've had a few mechanical problems with the car since new. Each took the technician a while to resolve. So, I thought it might be a good idea to start a thread and we share our own experiences and repairs, so that others might benefit.
If possible keep the thread clean and random chatter to a minimum. :D

1/ Exhaust rattle upon ignition (@ 6 months old)

Symptoms:
1. The car makes a ‘squeek’ or ‘rattle’ upon ignition.
2. While still in PARKED position, after about 30 seconds, the car makes a loud rattle that seems to come from under the engine bay.
3. It usually happens when I start the car for the first time. It doesn’t happen again, either immediately after or for the rest of the day.
4. The engine/transmission does feel a bit “rattly” when driving off, but feels normal for the rest of the day.
5. If I rev the engine a little after first start, as I ease off the pedal the rattle appears.
Again this goes off gradually and the car behaves normally.
6. The car drives and behaves normally for the rest of the day.

Cause and Repair:
They found a loose gasket in the exhaust. Replaced under warranty.

From under the car – sound is more direct:

Slightly revving the engine:

2/ Squeaky/Rattling suspension from the rear (around 50,000km)

Symptoms:
1. Squeaking/rattling coming from the rear going over speed bumps and rough roads.
2. Seems to get worse gradually over time.
3. Sound is more direct from inside than the outside.
4. In my case, isolated to only when the rear LH wheel.

Cause and repair:
Rubber seal in the top mount of the shock absorber is a bit dry and has some grit around it. Found to still be in good condition.
Cleaned up the seal and lubricated it.

Pretty much nothing in my close to one year of ownership of my pre-owned 'Zashi.
I have not even taken it to the dealer once for anything. Maintained myself.

Recently, very slight buzzing from doors on highways at times. Need to isolate the source, but it's so minor I don't really care too much. Probably from blasting the RF system with my bass-heavy music.

My Kizashi is a solid car and I am very happy with the build quality of the vehicle.

Often secondhand vehicles have had all the "bugs" fixed by the original owner. ;)

Gearbox (manual) hard to shift into 2nd gear, particularly when cold, slight grating noise. Gearbox oil changed under warranty improved it, now I'm past 6000km the gearbox action is a lot smoother. (Or I'm used to it? :) )

Top of battery "wet". Battery had been over filled and acid was bubbling out vents when it was charging. Some "minor" damage to paint on underside of bonnet. Battery/ ECU support bracket corroding. New bracket on order through dealer.

Rattle noise in front RHS suspension over sharp transitions in road surface. Dealer tightened front swaybar end links - apparently they were a bit loose? Noise still there, possibly more prevalent? I suspect it's just one of the many plastic under trays rattling.

Kuro, I'm not saying the Kizashi is a bad car. I love my car.
Most cars have their own little issues.
Hopefully, this will help with the diagnosis of some recurring problems.

David, your suspension issue could be the same as mine.
Check the top mount.

Oh, I know. Every car has issues that needs to be worked out.

Murcod, yes. One of the great things about buying a lightly used car is that the previous owner probably got kinks worked out in the first year of ownership. I basically had someone else spend the time at the dealership for that and then I paid several thousand dollars less than MSRP to own the car. Score!

1) I think I've needed TWO sets of wiper blades

2) I replaced the driver side low-beam bulb around 75--80K

3) I replaced the rear rotors and pads around 85K

4) I replaced the front rotors and pads around 90K, but it didn't really need them yet.

5) I've changed the rear diff lube twice, the other transfer case once or twice (I forget), and the oil every 5--9K

6) That's it.

At this moment it has 92,009 miles on it.

Only extra-service things Ive needed done (i.e things outside of the scheduled services) on my MY10 XLS are:

- Had RF amp replaced twice in first few months due to faulty batch of amplifiers.
- One of the rear parking sensors pushed back / fell out of bumper - had to get it stuck back in.
- Battery replacement (of whuich Suzuki payed half given it failed just within the initial 3 year warranty period)

2013 SLS - 2400 miles

So far....
- an alignment... steering wheel still off center.
- one of the roof rack plugs blew out on the highway.
- the A/C is weak.
- there seems to be vertical play in the hood (at the latch) when it's closed.
- smelled coolant twice.
- material is poorly attached to both A pillars.
- turning the A/C off kills the power to the ipod dock.
- excessive cranking on start up.
