I have a 2011 Kizashi GTS AWD automatic, there is a an odd noise when the car is moving. It almost sounds like a growl. It shifts fine and runs great but that growl is a bit disconcerting. it has 84,000 miles on it. I have changed the oil and the transmission fluid with the recommended cvt fluid and filter. Is this a common noise. I had the car on a lift and it is not coming from the wheels (which I had hoped it would), Thanks for any advice

Does it make the noise at idle or only when it is moving? Does it differ when you are turning or cornering?
Does it make this noise all the time or only after driving it for a while (related to engine/trans temperature)?
It's hard to tell at this point but my main suspect would be the CVT (Continuously Variable Transmission). You have the powertrain warranty to 100,000 miles from Suzuki so you should really investigate it.

There is a pretty detailed procedure for changing the CVT fluid in the service manual. Temperature sensitive. Too much or too little fluid is bad news for the CVT...Did you perform this service yourself or a Suzuki service center? If a service center, were they knowledgeable and caring enough to do it properly by the book?

I have a 2011 SLS 2WD that I would describe has a similar sound. Not quite a growl, but more like a cross between a growl and hiss. You know, shhhhhhh but with attitude. I had an old Suzuki motorcycle and 5th gear made a similar sound from a bad bearing. Worse when you gave it gas. It does seem to get louder as the transmission or powertrain heats up. It does not change with engine RPM so I think it has to do with the final drive or axles. If I use the paddle shifters and downshift, the noise stays the same. It changes "pitch" based on speed. It will get more pronounced if I give it light throttle so what ever the component is making the noise, it does it more when under load. Let off the throttle and it gets quieter. I've got about 65K miles on it but I'm waiting for it to get a bit louder before I take it in to have it checked. Never changed the tranny fluid but I agree with Ronzuki's philosophy in that I'm not going to touch it.
