I posted a while back about getting new tires and having the tire-changer guy break one of my TPMS sensors. They replaced it for free, but my "Service TPMS" light came on. I took it back and they said they couldn't reprogram it and didn't have the right tool. It was a mystery whether they even re-programmed it to begin with. I took it to another tire shop that had the right scanner, so they tried to reprogram it, but even they said something was wrong and they couldn't get it to program and to go to the dealership. I was starting to think that maybe the computer itself was the problem.
Long story short, I brought it to the dealership (only one left where I live). They were able to get the TPMS to reset & reprogram even with the aftermarket sensor in one tire. They said to give it a try. Both the dealership and I agreed that it might or might not work and the service light might come on again because even the dealership themselves have had problems reprogramming suzukis.
So a few days later my left front tire fell under 35 psi. But this time, only the "!" on the dash lit up and blinked. I did not get the annoying orange display on the center display along with it. So I filled the tire back up, and the "!" turned off

Maybe I'm wrong, but it appeared to me that the dealership was either able to do a software upgrade to the TPMS computer (if that's even possible) or they changed something so that now ONLY the "!" illuminates...just like a GM vehicle does. It's MUCH more tolerable to drive with just the "!" blinking rather than also having the bright orange center display warning illuminated as well...which was unnecessary.
So the reprogramming cost me $25. If anyone else wants to check into this, the dealership might be able to make a change to the TPMS system to where only the "!" illuminates when you have low pressure. You won't have the super bright orange display in your face any longer. But when they handed the car back, they didn't mention anything about making this change. Whatever the case is, I was delighted when I saw it.
