On my last tank, I went 729 km before my light came on and my avg speed on the display was 83 kph. My best range on a tank was 859 km.
I get 38mpg at a steady 70mph. Regrettably around town it's about 24mpg. The point is I knew it wasn't great on fuel when I bought it. Also the annual car tax is £265 ($400). Car tax in the UK is based on emissions, and varies from £0 to over £1000 per annum. My wife's Hyundia i10 costs only £20. Do you have car tax in the states ?

Every state is different. In MD where I am, you pay 6 % of the value of the car and have to go through a fairly in depth safety inspection when you buy the car. Then you're good to go with an emissions test every two years ($14) and renewing your number plates every two years ($120). There's no further inspection or yearly tax, but many states do have that.

In Michigan I payed $76 for my license plate this year. Fee goes down each year as the vehicle ages, so it is based on value. No inspections. My average is now 33.7 MPG about 2+ MPG since tossing the Dunlops and getting Michelin Defenders.

Cool make sure to reset your average speed on the display before the trip so we can get an idea how it correlates, if possible.
