On the verge of 130,000 miles, the transmission has had it. The estimate to replace the transmission $9,000.
I liked the Kizashi generally. I liked driving it. It was not as good as the Honda Accord (my trade in for the Kizashi). I won't miss changing headlight bulbs every other month. I'll never have another CVT.
Thank goodness for mechanical breakdown insurance. The Kizashi has been replaced By a new VW Passat. Bigger, faster, better gas mileage, and I hope it lasts for a little longer.

Sad to hear it. Did you experience any symptoms leading up to the failure? Has fluids been changed at recommended intervals? Good luck with the Passat. I'm sure it's a good car. I just can't get over VW's diesel scam, so now I don't trust the brand at all. Although I would go for a dirt cheap golf r.

Easily believable since the only place to get it new is from Suzuki. Check out the OE prices for just about anything for a K and you'll see utter ridiculousness. I'd suspect the TCM would also be included along with the trans in that estimate as well. Rebuild a CVT? Not likely or even a good idea.G13b wrote:Finding it hard to believe $9k for a transmission, can you get it rebuild?

$9000 for a new CVT is absurd. That's about twice the value of your entire car with a working transmission with that mileage. Can't blame you for ditching the car.

On the positive side today I was told of a friend who's 9 year old Toyota Corolla with a traditional auto that developed some type of problem. Not sure what the problem was but it was significant enough to offload the car. Thats a Toyota with a traditional auto.
