We received the recall notice about 2 months back and got the repair done at a GM dealer. However, since then, we have an unusual problem. The tank does not take more than 8-9 gallons and the fuel gauge shows about 6/10 full. I have tried to pump gas repeatedly till fuel starts spilling trying to see if it will take more without any success.
Any ideas about what could be wrong ? I may have to go back to that dealer to see if this will be covered under original recall repair.
Thanks for you help.
Problem after gas tank recall fix
Could be that the gauge is just reading low. When it's full it reads two thirds, and when it shows empty it's actually got five gallons left. Could be a poor electrical connection to the sending unit inside the tank.

Definitely take the car back and have them check the work. I also had the recall done but a few years ago. I've had no issues.
For my car, when the fuel gauge hits E and the fuel light comes on, I can usually refill about 12.5 to 13.5 gallons. This was the case before and after the recall.

There is a little extra pluming inside the tank for the purpose of drawing both sides of tank. The clearance for the exhaust and drive shaft divides the two sides. This makes this pluming necessary. If the tech doesnt pay close enough attention here, the tubing gets in the path of the swing float for the gauge making for an inaccurate reading. It may not be his first Kizashi tank replacement but probably the last one that he doesnt make sure routing is perfect. This job is bad enough getting paid in factory warranty time especially in high salt areas, but to do it a second time for free is a real lesson learner. Take the car back, its on them.
