On the original question of purchasing the warranty before taking possession, it is possible but I doubt that it is a requirement. You need to review the documentation. Dealers make a lot of extra money on extended warranties and so they have an incentive to push them.
Personally, I only bought one extended warranty on my first car out of law school, and it never covered anything of any substance given the exclusions. It was a waste of money. Can't say anything about the one at issue, obviously, since haven't read it and don't know anything about the provider.

Oh boy oh boy oh boy in 3 hours I'll return my 2013 Mazda6 rental (not a bad car, but it ain't no Suzuki) and pick up my Kizashi!
I'll review documentation. I get the feeling that I can purchase extended after I purchase the car. In any case, at this point, I probably won't. It's a 2011, so I still have a bit of time on bumper to bumper and another 3 years of drive train, or so I gather from the warranty section of the Canadian Suzuki website.
