I'm sure he means "poverty pack" or base trim.
I would be just fine with a "poverty pack" base S model with a 6 speed manual except for one really big thing (to me at least)...no cruise control.

If it wasn't for that little hangup I would have bought a 6 speed S a long time ago. It has the same body as the SE, (and all trim levels of 2010 minus foglights) and with time I could add factory foglights, an aftermarket double DIN stereo/nav speaker setup of my choice, and also some aftermarket wheels as well. Oh...and since the engine/drivetrain is exactly the same as a GTS/SLS with a manual, it might even be slightly quicker off the line than the top end models due to lower weight. (no power heated seats, sunroof etc..)

Basically Suzuki knew exactly what they were doing when they laid out which options would be available with which trim level...meaning that except for a brief time in 2011 (SLS offered with 6MT) they made it impossible to get everything you might want in a single model. As far as the SLS with the 6MT goes, I'm beginning to think they made just enough examples to pass around to car journalists. (that's the only place I've seen them to exist)

That's what I thought it was but I've never heard it put that way.

On the level of what the OP started out with:

Rain-sensing wipers on the SLS.

Sounds frivolous, but our other car, a fully loaded Ford Edge, does not have that feature. I realized last week when I drove the Edge through varying periods of rain, how annoying it is to be fiddling with the wiper speeds.

I love all of the extra little conveniences, probably in the following order:

1. CVT. I really like it, including the way it is calibrated.
2. Nice big wheels with low profile tires to get going.
3. The little push buttons to open/close on the door handles and the trunk.
4. The back up sensors.
5. The auto lights. Set and forget.
6. Bluetooth for both phone and streaming music.
7. Steering mounted controls.
8. Auto-dimming rear view mirror. Just right.
9. Fully adjustable and reclining power seats on both sides with memory on driver's side.
10. Auto climate control, with independent settings.
11. CD player doesn't let the CD skip on bumps.
12. RF sound system
13. USB port.
14. All the little storage spaces.

Don't need:
1. Paddle shifters.
2. Sun/moonroof.
3. Rain sensing wipers, at least the way they are calibrated. They don't kick in soon enough.
4. TPMS monitoring system. But required here in the U.S.
5. AWD, I don't have it - just use dedicated snow tires on all four feet.

Yes, poverty pack...

The funny thing is we get cruise control on the base model manual. I've also basically added on everything you've listed (but with DRL's instead of fog lights.)

I couldn't see the value in the dearer manual model with sunroof/ leather etc. Same engine and same suspension. I'm sure the larger 18" wheels would be nice on smooth roads, but the roads here are rough. I've stuck with wider 17" rims and 235/50R17 tyres, so decent ride and improved handling.

Most important features:

Manual trans on an non-stripper model, cruise control, and a way to plug in my iPod/phone for music as I hate terrestrial radio. HATE.

I got so spoiled in my sls that I would hate to be without any of the features I have after this. I came from a bare bones '09 Corolla equipped with nothing. Manual door locks, manual windows, and not even interval wipers.

But if I had to choose it always comes down to reliability over all.

We had one "pov pack" at our dealership that actually came off the truck with a hole where the radio should be...

I wouldn't mind that, providing they supply the factory double DIN adapter and take the factory head unit retail price off the vehicle.

the sticker price was like 600 less then the regular 6mt S fwd. We ended up adding one anyway and putting an addendum on the price.
